BILLET PROGRAM

Canadian athletes are being given the opportunity of a lifetime… to compete at the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, at home, in Canada, with the support not only of immediate family and friends, but an entire nation.  The success of the Canadian team will result in an enhanced Games experience for all Canadians.

The Canadian Sport Centre Pacific (CSC Pacific) Billet Program is designed to reduce athlete and coach stress and enhance the Canadian team’s performance at the 2010 Games by assisting their supporters with Games-time accommodations in Vancouver.

To accomplish this, CSC Pacific is seeking volunteers from Metro Vancouver to share their homes with relatives and close friends of Canadian athletes and coaches during the Games. This is a unique opportunity to experience the Games through the eyes of the Canadian team’s biggest supporters.

The world’s best are coming to our city and this is our chance to let our hospitality and spirit shine. Together, we can make this event a truly extraordinary experience for all Canadians.

“My family had the opportunity to participate in the Home Stay program offered during the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.  It was a huge benefit not only for them, but also for me.  It allowed me to focus fully on my event and not have to worry about my family finding the venue, getting lost or being overwhelmed during their first Olympic experience.  It also gave me a home away from home, a place to escape and recharge during the stress of the Olympic Games.”
