Ryan Atkison is a Biomechanist based out of the High Performance Training Centre in Whistler.  Ryan completed both his B.Sc. (2008) and M.Sc. (2010) in Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario, specializing in sport biomechanics, and is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. 

Originally from London, ON, Ryan joins the Canadian Sport Centre Pacific team from Halifax, NS where he coached with the Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club.  For the past two decades, Ryan has been heavily involved in competitive swimming as both a coach and national level athlete.  Also an avid skier, Ryan is now shifting his focus to winter sports where he aims to merge his technical expertise with his experience in competitive sport.

A former head coach of the National Para-Alpine ski team and Petro Canada Coaching Excellence Award winner, Leslie’s technical experience on-snow has lead to a career with national and provincial sport partners including Alpine Canada, the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association, and most recently, as Program Director for the BC Alpine Ski Association. Leslie’s understanding of both the national and provincial sport sector landscape and local Whistler community will be beneficial as she takes the lead managing the operations of the Whistler Campus High Performance Training Centre and the Winter Canadian Sport Institute (CSI) Development Programs. CSI Development Programs consist of three Sport Academies for the sports of Freestyle Moguls Skiing, Snowboard cross and Luge.

Matt joins CSC Pacific following a 16 year athletic career; he has spent the last 2 years coaching the Canadian Junior National Luge team based out of Calgary. His vast experiences as both an athlete and coach have prepared Matt for this role and it is his goal to combine these experiences in order to make a significant contribution to the BC Luge Development Program. Matt has a diploma in Massage Therapy and is working towards completing his coaching certification in Competition Development.

Matt is the Luge Development Coach based out of the High Performance Training Centre in Whistler. As a member of the Canadian National Team since 2000, and winning the silver medal at the 2004 junior world championships, Matt brings a very strong technical understanding of the sport, and with this knowledge he hopes to excel his athletes to new levels.

 

Simon Bonenfant - Development Coach, Snowboard Cross

Simon is the Snowboard Cross Development Coach based out of the High Performance Training Centre in Whistler. As a member of the Canadian National Team – Boarder Cross division since 2006, Simon brings a strong understanding of the daily training environment and needs of high performance athletes to the Snowboard Cross Development program.

Simon has received his Level 2 coaching qualification from the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors and is currently working towards full certification in both Competition Introduction and Competition Development. Simon’s ultimate goal is to establish a strong training program by working in harmony with the National Team to create a training platform to minimize the gap between Development Team racers and National Team members.

Craig Hill is a Strength and Conditioning coach based in Whistler. He currently trains athletes from Canada Ski Cross as well as development athletes in SBX, luge, and freestyle moguls.  Prior to joining CSC Pacific Craig worked with elite winter sport athletes from Alpine Canada leading into the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and prior to that trained the national Snowboard team up until the Torino games in 2006.  He has worked with a variety of other sports including mountain biking, triathlon, hockey and tennis.

In addition to his undergraduate degree in Physical Education (BPE) from the University of Alberta, Craig is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), a certified NCCP Olympic Weightlifting coach, and has been a registered Kinesiologist with the British Columbia Association of Kinesiology (BCAK) and a Professional Fitness & Lifestyle Consultant (PFLC).

When not training athletes, Craig can be found mountain biking, skiing, or playing hockey.

 

Dana Lis — Sport Dietitian

Dana graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and is a graduate of the prestigious IOC Sport Nutrition diploma program. As a former sport dietitian with SportMedBC’s nutrition program she has worked with athletes from a wide range of sports and levels - recreational to high performance. Some of her experiences include the Vancouver Whitecaps soccer club, national level athletes and numerous Team BC teams and athletes.

 

Dana’s involvement in sport dates back to her competitive experiences as a figure skater and more recently as a category 2 road cyclist. You may also find her cooking for NASA astronauts as a side job! When she is not helping others reach their nutritional goals, she can be found in the mountains backcountry skiing or rock climbing. Her goal is to work within an integrated performance team to provide leading-edge sport nutrition information, support and education to Canadian athletes.

Originally from New Brunswick, and a graduate of the University of Moncton (geography and history), Eric has spent the past 15 years in Whistler.  He is a long-time fitness trainer at Meadow Park Sport Centre, current strength and conditioning coach for BC Snowboard and a former Snowboard cross competitor on the North American circuit.  Eric will be a great fit at the Whistler Training Centre as he is a certified fitness consultant (CFC), personal trainer (CPT) and strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS).

Armed with a Bachelor of Applied Health Science (athletic therapy) and certified as a strength & conditioning specialist (CSCS), Kim has recently moved to Whistler and is looking forward to working with CSC Pacific.  Kim has spent time as an athletic therapist (CAT(C)) and strength and conditioning coach with many different organizations including the Victoria Exercise Rehabilitation Centre, the BC Rugby Union's U-19 women’s rugby team, the Cowichan Valley Capitals Junior A Hockey team, and the Whistler Mountain Ski Club.

At CSC Pacific Whistler, James will assist with finance, travel, meetings, and other general program administration.  He will also ensure that athletes have access to programs and services that enhance their sport performance while developing the life and career skills needed to maximize their high performance sporting life. 

Growing up in Ancaster Ontario he developed a strong background in both hockey and golf, and in 2007  graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia with a Business Degree while also playing NCAA Division 1 golf.   Recently he furthered his education graduating from the Bachelor of Sport and Fitness Leadership Degree program at Camosun College in Victoria B.C.  There he developed a passion for Athlete Career transition theory and support services that assist athletes off the field.  Also during his time in Victoria he enjoyed working with the local Wheelchair Ruby club as a volunteer. 

In his spare time he enjoys skiing and cycling, watching a wide variety of sports, and tracking the stock market.  He is extremely excited to be part of the Canadian Sport Centre Pacific team and look forward to supporting our Canadian Athletes and watching them succeed.
