NCCP COACHING COURSES

The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) prepares coaches for the responsibilities associated with coaching athletes of all ages and abilities. Training and certification is based on coaching streams (community, competition & instruction) and contexts that reflect different types of coaching.

Introduction to Competition
Within the competition stream, the theory context has been packaged into a new Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) program that includes two 12-hour courses called "Introduction to Competition Part A" and "Part B". These courses have replaced the old NCCP Theory Level 1 & 2 and most sports now require their coaches to obtain Part A to be a Level 1 Certified Coach and Part B to be a Level 2 Certified Coach.

Competition Development
Formerly called Level 3 Theory, this new NCCP context includes six multi-sport modules designed for coaches who are coaching to refine basic sport skills, develop more advanced skill and tactics and prepare for performance at the provincial and national level. These modules are interactive and bring together coaches from different sports to provide an increased value to the learning environment.

Advanced Coach Education
The NCI-BC supports coaches in their pursuit of NCCP advanced coaching education (Level 4/5 tasks). NCCP Level 4 tasks are offered within a designated theme, with twelve tasks required for a NCI diploma.
