Canadian Athlete Insurance Program (CAIP)

CAIP is an insurance program created to partially cover specified expenses incurred due to accidental and overuse sport injuries. Coverage is for injuries occurring while in Canada with an additional level of coverage available while athletes are training and competing outside of the country. CAIP is NOT intended as a complete medical insurance package. CAIP will not cover dentist visits, antibiotics or doctor fees unless these expenses are directly related to a sports injury. It is important to understand that CAIP is secondary insurance coverage. If you have a primary insurance program already in place, such as BLUE CROSS, you are required to submit your initial claim to that insurance company.
