Carolynn Boomer
General Manager, PacificSport Interior BC

Carolynn Boomer is the General Manager for PacificSport Interior BC. Sport has been an integral component to Carolynn's life as a multi-sport athlete in volleyball, basketball, athletics and fastball. She competed at the 2005 World Masters Games in Edmonton for volleyball.  Carolynn is a former Team BC and Cariboo College varsity athlete and she later coached for four years with the University College of the Cariboo. PacificSport is a way of life for Carolynn - she believes in the value of creating partnerships in order to provide opportunities for athletes and coaches in their own backyard.

A graduate of Cariboo College (Diploma, Recreation Management Diploma and Business Administration), she is NCCP Level 3 coach and a Provincial Referee in Volleyball.  She has worked with PacificSport Interior BC for the past 16 years and with Team Canada's Mission Staff for the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Team BC Mission Staff for the 2009 Canada Summer Games in PEI, and was the Technical Chair for the 2011 Western Canada Games in Kamloops, BC.
 

 


Jennifer Joyce
Sport Performance Coordinator, PacificSport Interior BC

Jennifer is the Sport Performance Coordinator for PacificSport Interior BC. She is an active High Performance Track & Field athlete, competing in the Hammer Throw and training towards the 2012 Olympic Games in London. She is the 2006 Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist, a 4 Time Canadian Champion and a former Canadian Record Holder. She competed for 4 years at the University of California at Berkeley, where she was a 2 Time NCAA All-American, Pac-10 Champion and Team Captain while earning her double major in American Studies & French.

Jennifer also brings valuable coaching experience and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. She spent 5 years coaching NCAA Track & Field at her alma mater in California where her athletes earned many titles and awards, including multiple NCAA All-Americans, Iranian National Record Holder (Men's Shot Put) and NCAA Champion (Women's Discus). She currently trains Kamloops athletes and teams including Olympian Catharine Pendrel (XC Mountain Bike).

Jennifer was born and raised in Richmond, BC and grew up as a multi-sport athlete in soccer, volleyball and track. She is very involved in sport and the community as she currently sits on the Board of Directors for BC Athlete Voice and Athletics Canada as the Female Athlete Representative. In addition, Jennifer is an Athlete Ambassador for ActNow BC, a Run, Jump, Throw Instructor and also volunteers her time for a youth program in Kamloops which promotes physical literacy.
 

Miranda Dick
Active For Life Coordinator, PacificSport Interior BC

Miranda's portfolio includes the new Active For Life position that will focus on increasing participation in Kamloops.  She graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Applied Science: Kinesiology in 2008.  She was employed as the Events Coordinator for SFU's Recreation and Athletics Department since 2009.
Miranda has competed internationally in the sport of wrestling where she won the 2008 World University Wrestling Title.  She competed as a varsity wrestler for SFU and was a two time CIS National Champion and Outstanding Wrestler.  Miranda was also the four time Canadian National Wrestling Champion.

Originially from Kamloops, Miranda is a NCCP Level 2 coach and has been instructing SFU summer camps for youth ages 5-16 as well as Wrestling Camps for BC Wrestling.  She also holds the position of Athlete Representative for BC Wrestling Association Board of Directors.  She
 looks forward to coming back to provide many opportunities to develop physical literacy in the community.

Jean-Paul (JP) Brabant
Sport Development Coordinator, PacificSport Interior BC  (Merritt Office)

Obtaining a degree in Physical Education from the University of Victoria, JP has taught in the Northwest Territories, Victoria and Merritt and has coached a variety of sports.  As Sport Development Coordinator in Merritt, JP is working to help increase youth physical activity participation in the Merritt area and is looking forward to working with local sport organizations to offer many programs for the community that include XploreSportz Youth Camps and NCCP coaching certification courses.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Katie Klassen
Operation Red Nose Coordinator, PacificSport Interior BC

Katie recently graduated from Thompson Rivers University with her Degree in Tourism.  She has worked with PacificSport Interior BC as an intern for the "Winter Fun Fest...Countdown to 2010" event that was huge success!  Katie has been hired as the Operation Red Nose Coordinator, which is the annual fundraiser for PacificSport.  She is responsible for sponsorship, volunteer recruitment, scheduling and Venue Managing on the evenings of service.

In her spare time, Katie enjoys competing in the Women's Soccer League and camping and fishing on the many lakes around Kamloops.
