Q1: How can I become a CSC Pacific/PacificSport registered athlete? 
A: If you have been notified by Sport Canada, your National Sport Organization or your Provincial Sport Organization that you are eligible to register with CSC Pacific/PacificSport, you must contact the Athlete/Coach Service Coordinator in the region where you wish to register. ( see staff listing here )
 
Q2: How do I renew my CSC Pacific/PacificSport Card?
I have been notified by Sport Canada, my National Sport Organization or my Provincial Sport Organization that I am eligible to renew with CSC Pacific/PacificSport.
A: Visit our "Athlete Login" page and type in your User Name and Password and you will be directed to your information.

Please update any new or missing information (in the boxes that are accessible) then click “submit” at the bottom of the page. Please also complete the Satisfaction Survey as it is very important to us for program evaluations. You must enter the year in the final cell (you will have to scroll across the page to see it on your screen) and then hit update to have the information stored correctly.

Once you have updated the information please send the Athlete/Coach Service Manager in your region an email message notifying him/her of the update and you will be sent your new card.
 
Q3 How do I find out which services are available to me as an athlete registered with CSC Pacific/PacificSport?
A: Please consult the "Program & Services" menu for more information. For further explanation of each program and/or service, please contact the Athlete/Coach Services Coordinator in your region.
 
Q4: I’m a coach and I’d like to improve my coaching abilities. Does CSC Pacific offer any professional development workshops for coaches?
A: Yes; CSC Pacific currently runs a Speaker Series geared towards coaches and instructors in their local community. Currently, this series is active in Victoria and plans are underway to host a similar series in Vancouver and Whistler. These sessions have focused on topics such as sport psychology, nutrition, strength & conditioning, performance technology, and long-term athlete development with a variety of highly qualified experts involved to share their experiences.

Q5: Can CSC Pacific/PacificSport help with the NCCP courses that I want to take?
A: Yes; CSC Pacific can assist you with some courses. If you are a beginning coach, please review the Coaches Association of BC website (www.coaches.bc.ca) for introductory level courses applicable to a range of sports. In order to obtain more advanced coaching credentials, you may be required to complete courses run by your specific Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) of the sport you are interested in becoming certified with. It would be advisable to review the corresponding Provincial Sport Organizations web site. Please visit the Sport BC website for links to PSO’s in British Columbia (www.sport.bc.ca)
 
For information regarding NCCP Theory Competition-Development courses (formerly Level 3 theory) the Coaches Association of BC has a full schedule of all courses for the next calendar year in locations throughout British Columbia. The NCI-BC hosts Competition-Development courses in Victoria on an annual basis at their International Coaching School (ICS). The National Coaching Institute of BC (CSC Pacific Victoria campus) currently offers a part-time NCCP Advanced Coaching Diploma (formerly Level 4 and 5 tasks) and will offer this program in Vancouver and Whistler starting in the fall of 2011.

Q6: Do you have any job opportunities through CSC Pacific/PacificSport and if so where can I get more information?
A: Yes, we do from time to time have opportunities with CSC Pacific. The volunteer, contract and staff opportunities are listed on our "Careers" page. For more information see Careers.
  
Q7: I’ve seen a silver trailer with athlete pictures and the CSC Pacific / PacificSport logo on the highway – what is this used for?
A: The CSC Pacific Mobile is a mobile lab that provides the ultimate on site Sport Science services for high performance athletes at training sites and competitions, as well as to motivate physical activity among youth at a grassroots level. The mobile unit is managed by CSC Pacific’s Dr. Gordon Sleivert, world renowned sport physiologist. Experienced practitioners assist him with Sport Performance Services.
 
   
 
Q8: How are the National Training Centres funded?
A: CSC Pacific National Training Centres are partnerships between the National Sport Organizations, Provincial Sport Organizations and CSC Pacific. Each has its own funding agreement that is based-upon and reflects the needs of that particular sport.
 
   
Q9: How is CSC Pacific funded?
A: CSC Pacific receives funding from a variety of sources including the federal and provincial governments, 2010 Legacies Now, the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Canadian Commonwealth Legacy Fund, corporate sponsors and community supporters.
 
  
 
Q10: I would like to donated to CSC Pacific; how can I do that?
A: You can support Canada’s best athletes and coaches via a contribution to CSC Pacific. The CSC Pacific Marketing & Communications office is working to develop a culture of philanthropy within our organization. Q11: I would like to volunteer my time to CSC Pacific activities. What kinds of volunteer opportunities are there for me?
A: There are many volunteer opportunities at CSC Pacific. Many departments seek Student Interns and most centres are involved in events that require volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the centre of your choice and tell them what your interest is; they will try to match you to an appropriate volunteer responsibility.
 
   
Q12 Do you actually see athletes like Simon Whitfield, Dylan Armstrong and Catherine Pendrel in your offices?
A: Yes, we do! CSC Pacific Campuses and PacificSport Centres across the province have regular office hours that enable athletes to drop in with their queries or just to say hello. Some of the centres, i.e. Victoria, have National Training Centre offices within the centre so many athletes come in to do business pertaining to training schedules, expense forms, sponsor product distribution, etc.
