NCI-BC DIPLOMA GRANTS

NCI-BC - National Sport Organization Intern Scholarship
 
Award: $10,000.00 plus matching funding from National Sport Organization (payable to NSO)
 
Number available: One
 
Description: Scholarship is awarded based on partnership with National Sport Organization to provide a coaching internship for eligible coach to attend National Coaching Institute in Victoria. The duration of internship is 10 month from September to June. Scholarship is restricted to Canadian coaches only.
 
Eligibility Requirements:
  1. Commitment from NSO to provide matching funding of $10,000.00
  2. NSO targeted or identified coach with minimum Level 3 certification or equivalent
  3. Coach must work with athletes within a Victoria, BC based High Performance program.
  4. NSO must identify a suitably qualified mentor of master coach.
  5. NSO must submit contract proposal identifying terms of internship.
  6. Coach must complete all NCI requirements
Application: Coaches should contact their National Sport Organization to have a letter of interest forwarded to the National Coaching institute BC outlining prospective eligibility requirements.
 
Selection: Selection of candidate be made by NCI Management Committee based on the quality of NSO application .
 

 
University of Victoria Assistant Coach Scholarship
 
Award: $10,000.00 (Payable to University of Victoria)
 
Number Available: One
 
Description: Scholarship is awarded based on partnership with University of Victoria for eligible Uvic varsity assistant coach to attend National Coaching Institute in Victoria. The duration of funding is 10 month from September to June.   Scholarship is restricted to Canadian coaches only.
 
Eligibility Requirements:
  1. Coach must be endorsed by National Sport Organization with minimum Level 3 certification or equivalent
  2. Coach must work with athletes within a University of Victoria varsity sport.
  3. University of Victoria must identify a qualified mentor of master coach endorsed by NSO and approved by NCI BC
  4. Coach must complete all NCI requirements
Application: Coaches should contact the Athletic Director of the University of Victoria to have a letter of interest forwarded to the National Coaching institute BC outlining prospective eligibility requirements.
 
Selection: Selection of candidate will be made by NCI BC Director and member of NCI BC Management Committee.
 

 
NCI-BC Tuition Bursary
 
Award: $1,000.00 (Payable to Coach)
 
Description: This incentive based bursary is awarded to NCI-BC diploma coach on yearly basis who complete NCI diploma program requirements within designated timelines. Coaches can apply and receive bursary two times within duration of diploma program. Award is not available to coaches who receive other scholarship support (i.e. NSO Internship, Women in Coaching etc..) or international coaches.
 
Eligibility Requirements:
  1. Coach must be endorsed by National Sport Organization with minimum Level 3 certification or equivalent
  2. Coach must be actively coaching athletes throughout the duration of the NCI Diploma program.
  3. Coach must pay designated tuition for NCI Diploma program.
  4. Coach must complete all NCI requirements
Application: Coaches should forward a letter of interest outlining prospective eligibility requirements to the NCI-BC Director.
 
Selection: Selection of candidate will be made by NCI BC Director.
 

 
Professional Development Grant
 
Award: Up to $500.00 for suitable professional development activity (Payable to Coach)
 
Description: The grant is for coaches enrolled in NCI diploma program on a yearly basis for attending Professional Development to assist in completing diploma requirements. Coaches can apply and receive grant up to two times within duration of diploma program.  
 
Eligibility requirements:  
  1. Coach must demonstrate the PD activity is suitable for enhancing NCI diploma program experience.
  2. Coach must provide receipts for PD activity or appropriate invoice.
  3. Coach must demonstrate ongoing ability to meet NCI Diploma Requirements.
Application: Coach should seek approval of PD activity from NCI director and submit designated eligibility requirements. 
 
Selection: Grant will be approved by NCI BC Director.
 

 
Women in Coaching National Coaching Institute Scholarship
 
Award: $1500.00 (Payable to NCI for half of NCI Tuition)
 
Number available: Maximum of 6 per NCI
 
Description: Scholarships are awarded annually to women coaches who attend one of seven National Coaching Institutes located across Canada. Scholarship is intended to cover coach’s tuition and are paid directly to the NCI. For more information go to: http://coach.ca/eng/grants/women.cfm
 
Eligibility
  1. Canadian citizen or landed immigrant currently coaching Canadian athletes;
  2. NCCP Level 3 certified;
  3. National Sport Organization (NSO) approved Level 4 candidate. In cases where an NSO may not have a Level 4 program, applications may still be considered if the sport is in the process;
  4. Has been accepted into the Diploma Program at one of the seven NCIs across Canada.
Application: Coach contacts NCI Director to submit a portfolio outlining eligibility criteria which is forwarded to the Coaching Association of Canada.
 
Selection: Selection of Candidate made byCoach Association of Canada Women in Coaching Program.
 

 
Bob Bearpark Foundation Grants
 
Task by task coaches living in British Columbia can apply for bursary from the Bob Bearpark Foundation for each completed level 4 NCCP task. Application for Bearpark foundation bursaries can be made through the Coaches Association of BC.   For more information go to: http://www.coaches.bc.ca/funding-and-awards/bob-bearpark-coaching-bursary-fund
