NCI ADVANCED COACHING DIPLOMA: UPDATE

Like all other Canadian Sport Centres, the NCI has moved to a new Advanced Coaching Diploma program geared predominantly toward coaches from the Train-to-Train to Train-to-Compete stages of LTAD.  While the new curriculum is consistent across the country, each Centre provides a delivery model tailored to the needs of coaches with many offering a combination of face-to-face and online delivery.

New in 2011; CSC Pacific and the NCI-BC have taken advantage of our three campuses in Victoria, Vancouver and Whistler to launch a Tri-Campus delivery of the Diploma program, offering face-to-face programming during three weekend sessions in both the fall (September – November) and spring semesters (April – June). In between the weekend face-to-face sessions, Diploma candidates attend weekly internet-based webinar classes.

We are excited to welcome our 2011 intake of coach candidates to the Tri-Campus program, and a warm welcome back to our returning coaches completing the second year of their Victoria-based Diploma!

Visit our website for more information about the NCI Advanced Coaching Diploma program.

SPOTLIGHT ON SOCIAL MEDIA

As part of the ongoing relationship with the University of Victoria, the NCI is pleased to offer a series of articles from coaches enrolled in the Masters of Education in Coaching Studies at the University of Victoria. The coaches in this program were asked to investigate current coaching issues in 3 themes:

1. Health and Safety
2. Technology
3. Long Term Athlete Development

Coaches were asked to apply an ethical decision-making process to examine and present on each issue. Marty McIntyre kicks off the first installment with a look at Facebook as a communication tool.
