Update: Volunteer numbers still low
November 17, 2011 - With just over one week before the start of Operation Red Nose on Nov. 25, we find ourselves in need of more volunteers for both the Ridge-Meadows and the Abbotsford-Mission operations. Last year we experienced quite an increase in demand for the ORN service - which we attributed to the tougher drinking and driving laws implemented earlier in 2010. We anticipate a similar demand for ORN this year and thus call upon the community members of Abbotsford, Mission, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows to come out and v
olunteer for one night or as many nights as you can. Send in your volunteer applications ASAP. Please call 604-746-0601 for more information.

About Operation Red Nose

Operation Red Nose is a confidential designated driver service provided during the holiday season. PacificSport Fraser Valley is the host organization for service in the Abbotsford/Mission and Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows communities. While this service is free, donations are gratefully accepted on behalf of the regional high-performance athletes and coaches that we serve.

Funds for Athletes
Operation Red Nose is the primary annual fundraiser for PacificSport Fraser Valley. Half of the funds raised go directly to our registered athletes in the form of
travel and performance grants. The balance is used to develop and deliver sport programs and services in the Fraser Valley region.

Be a Deer, VOLUNTEER!

This is the true essence of the program: our volunteers!
If you like late nights, sleep-deprived weekends, meeting new people, accumulating funny stories and contributing to the road safety of your community consider volunteering for Operation Red Nose.

We require volunteers for the road teams, head quarters and Mascot appearances:

3-person road teams are comprised of one
driver (to drive client vehicles), one escort car driver (to drive their own vehicles) and a navigator (to keep the team from getting lost).

At the ORN headquarters are the phone operators and the dispatch operators who receive the client calls and dispatch the driver teams, respectively.

The Mascot team is a lively, social group comprised of the mascot Rudy and his two buddy escorts who assist him in his travels to sponsoring establishments, community events and various Christmas parties.
